Congressional Award

Purpose

To recognize an individual or organization whose work in legislative reform, policy development, or advocacy has resulted in significant change in the field of adapted physical education (APE) and/or adapted physical activity (APA).

Eligibility and Criteria

Individuals or organizations nominated for the Congressional Award must demonstrate a record of efforts related to legislative reform, policy, or advocacy that have resulted in meaningful impact, as evidenced by one or more of the following:

  • Legislative reform efforts at the local, state, or federal level related to APE and/or APA.

  • Leadership in legislative or policy actions that enhance and/or protect the quality and quantity of APE and/or APA services for individuals with disabilities.
