Welcome to the homepage for the National Consortium for Physical Education for Individuals with Disabilities (NCPEID). Our mission is to promote research, professional preparation, service delivery, and advocacy of Physical Education for individuals with disabilities. Membership is open to all persons who are or have been involved in professional preparation, demonstration, or research activity related to physical education and recreation for individuals with disabilities. University faculty in adapted physical education as well as public school and residential facility personnel are encouraged to become members.
NCPEID holds an annual conference each summer bringing together researchers, teacher educators, practitioners and policy makers to discuss critical issues and best practices in physical education and adapted physical education. Annual business meetings are also held in conjunction with the Adapted Physical Activity Council of the Society of Health and Physical Educators (SHAPE America - formerly known as the Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance).
